Outside the big house: new Cummins Power Generation case study describes backup power test in South Texas

A major telecom company had success with DCathlon® DC generators in the Southeastern U.S. but wanted to see how the generators would perform in the harsh weather of South Texas, where hurricanes, thunderstorms and extreme heat can knock utility power offline. A DCathlon unit was put to the test in Edinburg, Texas, just outside the imposing walls of the Segovia Unit of the Texas State Prison.

The DCathlon generator proved its ability to supply reliable backup power for local telecom service, including service to the prison, whenever utility power was lost or when the on-site battery system became depleted. As a result of the lengthy trial, DCathlon generators were approved for installation through the 22 states served by the telecom provider.
